This year it fell on Fathers Day. So we also celebrated that. Thank you to all those that partisipated. We kept it really small. Mom cooked and it was Great! Indian beans, fry bread, roasted corn, pulled pork, and potatoe salad. I made the cakes, one for baby and one for Fathers Day. And people liked them both. Yeah!

November 2011

Well, we are getting ready to pull down the Christmas decorations. Thinking about a Christmas letter, shopping, & what is going to happen with a decorated tree in our living room.
But first, this year has been full of fun and new experiences. Like what do you do when your daughter eats an oak leave and the barbs have caught in her throat. Once we were in the checkout at the market & a very tired Z lost site of me & she started to Sob! When she started to calm down she said pretty loudly "I'm Done"! Everyone laughed & we left, she was right we were done! Or, while out shopping she sees a bird and says very loudly "CACA!" All I could do was laugh & say "Yes that is a bird, Good Job". Actually the only public outbursts happened at or in Trader Joes, hmm, thats interesting.

She is so much fun to watch run and laugh. Children like Zella are the reason people want to have kids. We are very blessed. Our little family is very lucky to have her.

Chapter 1 Colenes Family

I want to thank everyone that put us up and that put up with us!
We had a great time! We were lucky enough to have Grandma come along for some of the trip. And that made it a lot easier. We started out on the 5th of Sept. after dinner. Drove threw the dessert all night and spent the first night in St. George Utah. Dan found a great local coffee shop and left his phone there. It took us till Wyoming to figure it out, but we called and they had it and would hang on to it for us and send it back later. On to The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We had such a good time there we decided to stay another day. We were ahead of schedule because of Super Gram and Super Baby! Zella was great in the car. She must get that from her momma. She was only fussy if she was hungry or wet and we could coordinate those stops at gas stations so Dan could fill up at the same time.

Had some mediocre fudge in Afton WY. But we discovered a great little town Cooke City. Great hotel and a great restaurant. The best pizza I have ever had. I'm not kidding. Hand thrown, cooked on a stone pizza oven and he used roasted garlic! YUMMY! And the views of that sleepy little town were amazing! We went back to Yellowstone the next day and of course were not disappointed. We saw what had to have been thousands of buffalo. They were all over the place in HUGE herds. Hundreds of Pronghorn Antelope, a bunch of Mule Deer, Elk, a few small herds of about 10. On the river there was a family of Loons! I counted 12. I have never seen that before. It was so cool! 2 coyotes and 2 Bald Eagles and an owl flying to a tree right beside the road! It was the best day, one amazing thing after another.

Then we went to Billings, Montana. Yuk! We saw the locals and decided to not go out but eat in our rooms instead.

Went to Little Bighorn Battlefield the next day. That was great. We were there all afternoon. They give you a lot of information.

Dan drove us to Deadwood. What a great town. Very cool, Great history. My mom would tell you to watch the Deadwood series. She loves it. We went to the cemetery and saw the grave of Wild bill and Calamity Jane. I won about 20 buck in the casino. That was fun!

We went on to Nemo about an hour away and met up with my family. We stayed there for the weekend and had a crazy good time. Zella met my cousins daughter that was born 3 days after Zella. So we had 2 small babies and a few grown ups that act like babies! Just kidding. We all had a great time. We laughed a lot, and had a lot of great food! Thank you Maggie!

Then we continued on to Pipestone, MN. Maggie and her family went too. Our Aunt Robyn, her husband Loren and their 2 little dogs were kind enough to put up with us for a few hours before we went to the hotel. The Calumet Inn or Hotel. Anyway what ever its called its haunted! Mom got 2 rooms for us. She showed me the first ones and I said "Umm whats the other one look like?" I didn't like it, for no particular reason. But we got the other one cause mom didn't care. But later that night she felt the bed sag like someone was sitting on the edge. And a minute later the bathroom door slammed shut. She was totally freaked out! And immediatly went back to sleep. The next day we went to the National Park there. And that was cool we had a good time all 8 of us. Dan did the baby sitting while the adults went for a little hike. It was nice to get out and move! We also played a game of bowling at my cousins bowling alley. We had a really good time cause we suck at it! Mom got second place behind the 5 year old, he got the lowest score. It was so nice to spend time with family. There was a Huge thunder storm that night. And the next morning we went to the museum to take a look at their records. I didn't find anything on my grandmother but i did find records on her brothers. I didn't know they attended the Indian Training School too. Then we sent my mom with Maggie, Andy , Audrey, and Sofia to Sioux Falls. That's where she caught the plane home. Only it wasn't that easy. She had a delay and actually flew out 4 hours later and then vowed never to take a small plane again! Again! So now we are on our own! Alone with the baby and only 3000 miles left to go. But she got home ok and we drove up to Brainerd to introduce Zella to her Great Grandma Mona and Great Aunt Jennifer. (Charlies mother and sister) Then up to Bemidji for night. MN wasn't originally on our agenda but plans changed and how could we not go to Bemidji its only another 100 miles north. So we did, and had a ball. We stayed up way too late, I ate the last of Julies Nutella, we talked and pained Zellas hands and feet and sticking them to mugs and plates. We got to meet baby Madeline who is 3 monts older than Z. I think I have that right.

We drove to Madison to see our great friend Althea and her boyfriend Matt. I would totally move to Madison if it didnt snow there. What a cool town! We had a HUGE thunder storm. That was fun. Went to breakfast with Matt and Al and were off to Chicago.

And thats Colenes side of the family trip.

To be continued...

September Is Here!

We are getting ready to take our vacation to see our families. ">6/18/10 Its 830 am and my water broke an hour ago. I had already gone to the bathroom about 10 minutes before. I came back to bed to snuggle with Dan and about 10 minutes after that I had to move so I wouldnt get pee on him. It was not pee! My bladder could never hold that much urine at once. So I called the hospital and the nurse says come in. We called my mom she said "keep me posted". Mean while Dan is on the phone to everyone. Next stop is Facebook. I think our little sunshine is going to be born this weekend. That would make her a Gemini and older than her great cousin! She will be born on the 22. I am writing in a pre delivery euphoric haze! We are so excited! I cant wait to hold her.

6/5/10 By now you are probably trying to figure out what kinda crazy math I'm using to track this pregnancy. Well allow me to enlighten you, from conception to birth is 40 weeks. That averages out to be 10 months not 9. Yes they all lied to you. I'm sorry to be the one to break the news but isn't it better now that you know the truth? My official due date is 6/29/10.

WE now have pictures of the nursery!!! Check out the slide show to the right. WE have done a lot of construction and deconstruction these last few weeks. We had an old chimney that went to nothing. It started above your head and up past the roof line. Dan took it down in one weekend. The 104 year old mortar was so brittle he took it down to the roof line with his bare hands. After that it got a little more difficult, he had to use a chisel and sledge hammer. No power tools needed. Which, I'm not sure if Dan was happy about that or not. So we are in the process of finishing that wall. And that will be the last of the drywall, this year.

If I were wrighting a book I would title this month Oh My God my feet hurt month. My ankles look like I sprained them they are so swollen. Im really looking forward to that going away next month. But my Dr. says they are not bad at all. No peaclampcia or other problems. As a matter of fack except for a few days this week I have been doing really well with my diet, and she is really happy with my blood result and hasnt put me on any extra iron or other viamin suplements. And that happends a lot to pregnant women in the 3rd trimester. I had the flu this week, which makes me question the flu shot I got. What the hell was the point of that? Any ways I'm better now, eating solid food, yeah! & our little angel was wonderful while I was sick she didn't kick me too much and when she did it was more of a nudge instead of a jackhammer in my 10th rib! We are back on track again and preparing for my baby shower tomorrow! I get presents I'm so excited! I have gotten so many GREAT things already. I have about 4 trash bags full of 0-2year old clothes. And let me tell you these ladys have amazing taste! I wouldn't buy clothes this good for myself let alone someone who is gonna burp up on them, or my baby! hahaha

5/11/10 A little late this month sorry. No pictures of the nursery yet. But we have been Very busy! In our spare time we have been mudding, taping and sanding ourselves. That is to say, not paying anyone to do it. But we haven't been doing it all by ourselves, my mom and dad have come over to help a lot. Mom and I are great at mudding and sanding (detailed work). We are hoping to get the primer up this weekend while I'm at work. (No fumes for baby) Dan has put in the hole house fan. And man can that thing SUCK! It makes my hair move when I'm at the other side of the house! Very cool. I have bought the 3 doors needed and they are not in too bad of shape. We will be able to make the fixes and prime in one weekend I hope. The hard part for the doors is that Dan now has to find old hardware for them. Floors hopefully by the end of the month. Well see at the next posting.

On the baby news! Don't I look happy in the most current picture? I am loving every minute of being pregnant but I am getting more and more uncomfortable. Every part of my body is swollen. When mom saw my bare feet she said "Look at those fat little piggies!" Nothin but love! It even hurts to bend my fingers sometimes. But to feel her move makes me laugh with joy. Any kick, somersault or hick up, I love it! I have been asking her her name but I haven't gotten any response yet. We'll see what she has to say in 6 weeks.

4/1/10 Mom, Dad, and Fetus, are doing well. We are all hard at work on the addition. Dan is doing all the electrical, plumbing, and gas lines himself. To our surprise, we were able to afford a heating and air unit. We didn't think we would be able to for a few years but because Dan is such a great guy, his friends have really come out to help in any way they can. My mom & dad came over on Saturday to help Dan put drywall on the ceiling. We have most of the light fixtures up. Pretty soon we will start moving the office into the addition so I can start work on the nursery. It has been pretty tough. My house is constantly dirty and turned up side down. And I don't have a nursery to "nest". Which is making this pregnant lady kinda crazy. I only had one break down. I channeled my inner 4 year old and threw a tantrum. Stamping my foot, flailing my arm, and wining into Dans shoulder and all. But hopefully that will end pretty soon. Hopefully Next month I will have pictures of the nursery to show you.

3/1/10 It has taken this long but I am finally showing. I had to buy maternity pants because last month all I could wear was yoga pants because the buttons and zippers on my jeans were killin me! But if you didn't know I was pregnant you would just think I had gotten fat. Sometimes I call her my little beer belly.

Dan & I have narrowed the list of names down to about 15. She made me put this up.

Sorry, we had a little hickup with the poll so lets try this again. Then we will find out which names get the Gold, Silver, & the Bronze medals. I think I might be watching too much Olympics. I might have Olympic Fever. Now even I need to "Own The Podium". Thanks for voting! You can also send me an email with other names you would like me to consider. But before you do know that I do not like common names. And if you suggest Emma, Madison or Emily its not gonna happen! I have gone to the Social Security web site and have vetoed any names on the top 50 list of 2010. This a convenient site, I just typed in the name and it gave me the ranking. Take a look, see where your name is!

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

Surprise!

Normally I wouldn't have a Pink blog page however under the circumstance I think this is called for. If you had been to this site before you will know we were expecting a boy. We had a short list of boy names, we had boy decorations and bedding picked out. However, at our ultra sound last week my little angel made it known perfectly clear to EVERYONE, without question that she did not have a penis! So we were now expecting a Girl. So far it looks like she is taking after her momma. She does not understand subtle. We are not planning on painting the nursery. I don't think she will mind the dark green walls, and if she does well, tough cookies, she can't talk! So until she can, she is just going to have to deal with decorations. It was a hard transition to make. The first day I was in shock, I cried and talked to Dan. And he tried to understand me, and the next day I was fine and I started Estitition school and hopefully I can finish before our little angel comes. So that's what I'm up too, but just because I'm OK with the new baby girl in our life don't think for one second I'm OK with pink. If you want to see her wear something you get her, keep the pink to a minimum please.

I am the mom & I approve of this message.

We have started our addition on the back of the house. We had great help from friends & family with the demo. We were able to save a lot of old wood mostly redwood all really cool stuff I hope to use it in the laundry room or bathroom in the nursery. We'll see how that goes. We passed our first inspection with the city and we will get concrete pored this week. Slide show to the right.

We are expecting our first child on June 29, 2010. The video below is how I told my parents. Enjoy

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v5.nonxt3.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D5873a36b8d11193e%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331345348%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3DF5F4F4E854A5285ACFCD1A57CA3DC51DEA2CCDF.5667CFECBDA53EC2AF18CE35FAAB33BEC3F9706%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D5873a36b8d11193e%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D26hN9-0wfxbyhq-hozmhCXEo0wo&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Caution: May contain nuts, keep out of reach of children, do not look into laser with remaining eye, may be harmful if swallowed, for external use only. We had so much fun. I think we will go back either to work or to spend Christmas with the family. When Crime Fighter is a little older. Mom has taken to calling my fetus Crime Fighter. Because Dan took notice of the name given to the child of the big guy from Penn & Teller. Moxie Crime Fighter ... And because mom loves the movie Tombstone specifically Wyatt Earp we have Wyatt Crime Fighter Kane as her favorite name and now the nickname for the fetus. Thank you mom

Right after Christmas Dan & I and our friends Neil & Linh went to Palm Springs for a couple of days. We discovered a Mexican restaurant there that didn't use lard so I was In LOVE!!!

We stayed home on New Years Eve and day.
