We are getting ready to take our vacation to see our families. This time last year we were preparing for our wedding! In one year we have gotten married, bred, finished construction on one out of three rooms, had a perfect pregnancy, had a perfect birth, and now have a perfect baby. If you don't believe me look at the pictures!
(Alphabetically) Barbara, Colene, Dan and Zella are leaving this weekend for a trip to the Midwest. And given my obsession to National Parks and Historic Sites we are making a few stops along the way. First stop Golden Spike:
Golden Spike National Historic Site commemorates the incredible accomplishment of this nation's first transcontinental railroad. Click Here
Then to Grand Tetons Click Here and Yellowstone Click Here.Yellowstone National Park is America's first national park.Preserved within Yellowstone National Park are Old Faithful and a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers and hot springs.
After that Little Bighorn in Montana! Click Here I'm really excited to go there. I have never been to the park or in Montana. I also hope to see some family in Montana while we are there. After that, break neck speed to Nemo, South Dakota for the anniversary of my cousin Maggie and her husband and our first wedding anniversary. Maggie's second daughter Sophia and our daughter Zella were born within a few days of each other, but a thousand miles apart.
After the Bucy Clan has gotten together for a few days (and Dan has had enough) we are going on to "The Minuteman Missile National Historic Site". Yeah! The best part about this is that the directions on the National Park Service web site says its "besides the Conoco gas station! Click Here Mom hates it and doesn't want to go but its on the way and I think I can force her. She may be a grandmother but I'm still bigger!
Then on to Pipestone MN. My moms sister Robyn (I call her Aunt Robyn) can't make the trip to Nemo so we are going to her. We have never been and my cousins own the bowling alley there (sorry No web site). My Grandma Mona is coming down from Brainerd to see us too. I hope to get a picture with the four generations.
There is also a school in Pipestone that my grandmother Lois attended. That is a very nice way of saying she was taken against her will to an Indian boarding school 5 hours (by car) away from her family. The reason behind this was to "civilize" or otherwise assimilate Native Americans (as opposed to relegating them to reservations), adopted the practice of educating native children in modern American culture. There is no National Monument to this tragedy ... I'm getting a little carried away. Click Here to find out more.
Then we are gonna "Throw Momma from the Train" or van rather. Mom is gonna fly home and Dan, Zella & I will continue on to Chicago, we think. We will have been on the road for a little less than 2 weeks and we might be a few marbles shorter than when we started the trip. So we are leaving it kinda up in the air.
Check our facebook page to the left for daily updates and pictures from the road.
The "Zella Show" has also been updated.
We will see you 3000 miles from now!
